SWIMMER SAFETY
Swimming pool drownings are often preventable. Following basic guidelines and rules while promoting a fun and safe swim environment can make all of the difference.
Below we have listed standard safety guidelines to follow for swimming pool safety:
* These are only guidelines and references. Review all local regulations and laws in your area.
The weather often affects Outdoor pool conditions like high winds, and Storms can cause death or injury. Always be aware of the weather when in or around a swimming pool.
Lightning can cause injury or death from electrocution in and around the pool.
* Below are a few tips for storing swimming pool chemicals for residential swimming pools:
1. Pool chemicals must always be handled with extreme care. Failure to read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions can lead to fire, explosion, or gas release. We urge you to follow these rules when developing your pool safety programme.
2. Always test the pool water before adding chemicals.
Read, and follow, the manufacturer’s instructions on adding chemicals to the pool.
3. Keep chemicals in a clean, dry, secure place, out of reach of children, animals and away from plants.
4. Keep incompatible chemicals apart, e.g. Acid and Alkali.
5. Never mix chemicals.
6. Use only the quantities specified.
7. Use a different, clean and dry measure for each chemical.
Never interchange them.
8. If you dissolve chemicals in water before adding to the pool, always add the chemicals to the water (not the water to the chemicals).
9. Only add chemicals when no one is in the pool. Keep bathers out of the pool until the substances are fully dispersed.
Seal containers after use.
10. If a chemical comes into contact with your skin, wash thoroughly with water for ten minutes. If any irritation persists, contact your doctor.
If chemicals are swallowed, follow the label’s instructions and seek medical assistance.
No smoking in the vicinity of pool chemicals or when adding them to the pool.
Dispose of any spillage immediately according to the manufacturer’s instruction. Never vacuum a chemical spill.
